The Social Security Administration (SSA) requires armed and other protective security services to protect people and property at the Social Security Administration¿s Second Support Center and adjunct RTP (Research Triangle Park) Building in Durham, North Carolina.
The contractor shall provide all management, supervision, qualified protective security guard force personnel, materials, equipment, and transportation necessary to provide Armed Protective Security Services at the Social Security Administration¿s (SSA) three story, security level 4 Federal Government Facility (Second Support Center) located at 3604 Louis Stephens Drive, Durham, North Carolina 27709 and at a multiple section two and three story, security level 3 Federal Government Facility (RTP Building) located at 3306 Chapel Hill-Nelson Blvd (Buildings 3308/3310), Durham, NC 27709. Security clearances will be required in the performance of this work.
The facilities, located approximately two miles apart, are managed under a single campus concept. The protective security contractor provides a vehicle for mobile patrols at, and around, the two facilities and mans a single security control center to oversee the access control, alarms and patrols at both facilities.
These two facilities have 17 posts, two of which are 24 hour a day operators in the security control center, and two of which are workday only parking and credentialing office positions. The remaining 13 posts are manned by armed protective security officers, for 6 of which the contractor must provide services 24 hours a day inclusive of holidays and weekends. Each of the two facilities has an employee entrance that is open 24 hours a day, inclusive of holidays and weekends, and there is one loading dock entry point for deliveries at one of the buildings. These three entrances have X-ray machines and magnetometers at the access control screening posts. The first-listed facility also has a separate, stand-alone truck inspection facility. Approximately 300 SSA and contractor personnel occupy the two facilities.
Neither of these facilities is open to public access.
